No, we’re not talking about all of us (though let’s admit it – we are Google’s bakras in some way 😄).

During the spring 2009, Google hired 200 goats from a company called California Grazing to maintain the lawns at their 12-acre Mountain View HQ – aka the Googleplex.

That’s right. These goats had replaced lawnmowers as part of Google’s eco-friendly sustainability efforts.

🐐 No emissions (except the droppings… which, fun fact, double up as natural manure).
🔥 Plus, reducing overgrown vegetation helps lower wildfire risks – a big issue in California.

Google said the cost was about the same as mowing…
(No clarity, though, on whether the lawnmowers got a severance package 😬)

PETA had no major objections to the goats being “(d)employed,” but did raise questions about their welfare:
👉 Are they getting shelter?
👉 Are vets on standby?
👉 What about water, transport, goat work-life balance?

Google’s cheeky response?
“They’re not full-time employees, but like every Googler – they get a free organic meal.”

Honestly, if they ever decide to outsource to India Grazing, we could offer diversity too:
